Home Hot Water Tankless Models
Manufacturer's and seller's sites are a good place to learn more about tankless water heaters. In addition to what is available here, you will find on manufacturer’s sites information about specific models that can help you choose the one that is best for your home. There are four basic models of hot water heater that are for home use: 1. High capacity whole house heaters - For anyone who has a need for hot water to multiple targets, these are primarily gas powered but for homes suitably equipped there are electric models that can produce up to eight gallons per minute. 2. Whole house tankless heaters - Depending on local climate and gallons per minute requirements can be either gas or electric powered. The difference being that gas models are more expensive to install but offer lower utility costs. Electric tankless are usually cheaper to install (if they will work with existing power source) but may cost more for utilities. 3. Small tankless models - These models offer easy installation and can provide enough hot water for one target at a time - usually just enough for a tub or laundry, and operate on 120 volts. 4. Point-of-use - Small water heaters like these are perfect for supplementing hot water to far away bathroom sinks and kitchen sinks, where the wait for hot water is inconvenient and wastful. These usually produce just enough hot water for one faucet and are powered by 120v current. These have small tanks that provide instant hot water rather than waiting for the pipes to clear.
