Point-of-use Hot Water Heater

For anyone who has the troublesome situation of waiting for hot water to be delivered, a point-of-use hot water is the answer. This will eliminate the long pipe run to far a off bathroom sink, for instance.

These mini-storage tank heaters, operate on 120 v current with a small heated storage tank. They can be easily mounted in a bathroom sink vanity with simple plumbing tools and probably no more than two lengths of flexi-pipe.

The advantage is, in addition to the enjoyment of having instant hot water, there is the economical benefit of saving on your energy bill and conserving water.

The Department of Energy offers up these figures for daily hot water use:
More efficient than standard tank heaters
85 gallons 8-14 percent
40 gallons 24-23 percent
Pont-of-use 27-50 percent

Estimates for home water use put faucets and leaks at 30 percent of the total.

These loaf of bread size heaters can offer up instant hot water because they have a small storage tank - usually ½ to 4 gallons of hot water, ready to go - just like a conventional water heater. They also have the instant heating technology of awhole house, on-demand hot water heater.

These heaters are very similar to whole house hybrid heaters, scaled down to produce ½ to ¾ gallons of instant hot water per minute. You should check the models to see if it has a high temperature feature (for instant tea) and fitted with a scald-guard for safety.
